KnowledgeEngine
I am here asking for some help guys. I have a friend whose hookahs I have smoked from a few times, and I want to go ahead and buy my own. Note: Friend is unaware of KM Hookahs, so I will not rely on his advice. When I described the "tray rattle" KM got dished, even with explanation of how it is part of the uniqueness of owning a KM. My main reason for the Mya QT route is $$$, has nothing to do with the rattle. Please read through my whole post before commenting. Here are the accessories I will be buying: 1 - Large Nammor Hose 1 - Tangiers Medium Phunnel 1 - MNH Scallis Glass Phunnel Bowl Mod 1 - Tangiers F-Line Kashmir 9 1 - Romman Apple 1 - Romman Berry Breeze -- Possibility of MNH Tangiers Glass Screen, if you think it is any good 1 Kilo Exotica Finger Coals (The free coals that come with the hookah are not listed) Discussion on the Hookah I will buy: Torn between a Mya QT (Low investment, easy to clean, portable) or KM ~22 - ~ 36 Inch (Really wanted a tri-metal, but none in usa now that I can see) So the advice I am looking for basically is... Am I making a bad choice for my first hookah going with the Mya QT? Should I upgrade to a bambino instead? Or go all the way straight to the KM? I am hesitant to jump into a KM right off the bat, because it seems cleaning it in the bathtub would be a good deal of extra effort, also I see the hookah making some amount of travel, and want one to hike with sometimes. If I start with a Mya there is a good chance I will be buying a taller hookah (IE KM) within my first year of ownership, provided I fall in love and smoke it often, take care of it, etc... Also any advice/commentary on my accessories selection is welcome. I am open to suggestions for a additonal shisha, discussion on the glass screen. My vendors are HookahShisha for the hookah, coals, bowl, hose and romman... And MNH for the scali mod & tangiers f-line. Help fill me in if I have missed anything I need to be considering. Stuie
I have a QT it's one of my favorite hookahs. It's a smooth smoke all the way. Now that my wife is pregnant I can smoke it more. She hogs it.I have a lot of Mya's and they are quality. I would say start with the QT. It will keep smoking well after the welds on your KM start becoming prominent and possibly leak. The KM guys will be here shortly to sway you, but it's a great hookah. Never regretted buying mine for a minute.

An1m
Don't "Invest" in a QT. Go to Hookah-Shisha.com and get a Mya Paragon. Buy all of the accessories and you'll be over the 200 dollar free hookah gift mark and you'll get this hookah:http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...;idproduct=2330That hookah is 10X better than a QT, It hits like a beast, you won't get water up your hose because the vase isn't extremely small, AND you can fit ice in the water to cool your smoke. It's also an acyllic base so it's great for traveling and smoking while hiking or at the beach. You can drop it, it can get knocked around and it'll keep on smoking awesomely. I've been using mine for about a year now, I've dropped it, taken very poor care of it and it still hits amazingly, doesn't retain flavor, doesn't need to be washed in a bath tub, it's just awesome.Mya QT's are way overrated. Mya Hookahs in general are fantastic. I've smoked KM's, IMO Mya is the best out there.I would also reccomend that you get a KM hose instead of a nammor. KM makes great hoses. Nammors have a bad habit of breaking EASILY.
erufiku
I'd get the QT if I were you, then upgrade to a KM when you've got more money. I started with a MYA Bambino and got a KM a few months later, still use the Bambino when I want a quick session or don't feel like cleaning the KM. But for smoking multiple bowls in one day I use the KM The Bambino is amazing, but if you plan to take your hookah outside regularly I'd get the QT... it's a bit more stable due to the different vase. Montreal's freezing cold most of the time I'm here so I couldn't be bothered to smoke outside anyway
KnowledgeEngine
Wow thanks a million for the hookahcompany ideal. I looked for trimetals for a while, and no luck. But now I have a wide selection.I still would like additonal input, but my selections are pretty much limited to a mya qt/bambino/comprable price OR the KM tri-metal serieshttps://www.101highway.com/hookahcompany.co...ent%3Dfirefox-aClick the link, or search hookahcompany for tri metal to see the selection of KM's

Hojo
Buy the QT, and spend the difference on shisha, coals, accessories, etc. You can always buy a new hookah later, once you have a nice shisha collection. It's also portable and can be converted into a two-hose hookah (not so for the Bambino or KM). It's easy enough to set up, use, and clean. It's a fantastic hookah overall, and would work just fine as a first hookah to own. My QT is my go-to hookah, and I absolutely adore it. rigor
As someone who just bought their second hookah, I'd definitely agree and say go for a Mya QT, and all that extra cash you saved, put it towards good coals and a nice shisha collection to start. If you really get into hookah quickly, you're going to be way more stoked you have a large amount of shisha to choose to from, rather than just have a more expensive hookah that perhaps smokes slightly better, but not a ton. Codename067
Here are two point of views:1. Buy the KM. Might cost you a little more, but in the long rung [meaning, less than 6 months worth of smoking], you are going to realize that you made the right choice by getting the KM right away.2. You can buy the QT and save some $, and buy a good amoubt of tobacco and coals, meaning while saving up money for that KM. Moral of the two thoughts? You are going to end up with a KM either way, so either buy it now, or wait a little.QUOTE (rigor @ Nov 19 2008, 12:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>As someone who just bought their second hookah, I'd definitely agree and say go for a Mya QT, and all that extra cash you saved, put it towards good coals and a nice shisha collection to start. Oggie505
I say go for the QT, I have been smoking mine for 4 years. I haev a KM tri-metal, and other big rigs, but I feel the QT is the best because it can be set up anywhere especially on aq coffee table or desk, and still be out of the way. but this is personal opinion, get what ever one you like the look of. You will figure out what you want after that.

modisess
I love my QT... yeah and I agree with everyone else, I think the essential thing is to build up your stash of tobaccos first then think about getting a KM or any other higher end hookah for that matter.. indian_villager
I have both a KM and a MYA. The good things about the MYA's is that they are cast brass. They can not rust on you. Everything is detachable so it makes for easy cleaning and it really helps on the portability note. Two gripes I have about MYA's is that they are rough on the inside so it will destroy your cleaning brush and they can't purge to save their lives. But it pulls real easy and with the nammor and a phunnel the draw will be effortless. The KM is still better on pulls but the MYA is no joke. Since you are starting out get the MYA and save the money for tobacco so you can sample a greater array of flavors. Then step up to the big boys. slingham
Get the Mya QT. I was pretty much in the same boat as you two months ago. I had just joined the forum, read all the great things about KM and really wanted one. But I wasn't 100% on how into it I would be so I went with the MYA because of its size, so if I did get a KM later on I'd have both a large and a small hookah. An also because of its quality, it smokes amazing and everything fits perfectly. You'll end up getting a KM more than likely down the road anyways, but try the MYA to make sure you're going to stick with hookah.

modisess
change the vortex to a phunnel? diffusers arent really necessary, but hey it's your money.also, i've noticed that when putting ice in the base with smaller hookahs, the smoke is considerably colder than what you would get if you are using a much taller hookah. tried that with some fantasia raspberry lemonade, it was amazing. KnowledgeEngine
It's too late now, it is done.I am now a first time hookah owner. They should be packing it all up for me now.Sorry, went with the vortex, I am stubborn if I get my mind set on something. But perhaps experience will prove me wrong as I smoke more from it. Got the vortex from saharasmoke, so I know it will be one with the holes higher up the side. I should have it all by friday evening, (taking a trip) or monday morning. slingham
I'd skip on the Heba. Its pretty large an you can make one cheaper. For my Mya Chic you have to fill it up almost all the way with water to get the Heba completely underwater.
MWlax00
good call with the QTyou wont be disappointedi too just bought one from H-S, and that too is the best decision. plus you should get reward points.
Rayneuki
QT all the way. I just dropped mine last night, hardwood floor (Don't ask HOW I did it... I'm not sure, because the damn things don't tip...) and nothing was wrong with it. Picked it up, got some new coals, and started smoking again. It's a champ. I love it. joytron
I have never owned a QT but own a KM ice and have nothing but good things to say about it. Smokes incredible and has the best purge.I am sure they are both excellent hookahs and either way you will be happy.I would ask myself 1) Is portability important to me2) How important is price (If this is an issue I would just get a standard small phunnel instead of the glass)3) But most importantly get the one you think looks the best. The hookahs you have mentioned are all top quality so just find the one you like the most and im sure you will be happy4) if you really get into hookahs im sure you will buy more, so dont worry about it.5) get a razan hose, they kick ass! rigor
FYI... AF Double Apple tastes EXACTLY like liquorice, nothing like an apple. Get some AF Golden Esk.Apple for a good apple flavored shisha.
indian_villager
You should have ditched the diffuser and the vortex should have been a phunnel. Good luck with tangiers and a vortex!
FactorE
ditch the diffuser! To me it doesnt do much, i mean isnt hearing the noise part of enjoying the hookah? Edited November 19, 2008 by FactorE
